Amazing antique compound microscope made of golden brass and black-laquered iron, with its original storing box and in very good condition. The microscope dates from the late 19th century (circa 1880) and is quite well preserved, being also in excellent working order. The golden brass component parts preserve the original transparent lacquer and show scarcely any signs of the trace of time, while the lacquered surface of the horseshoe foot on which the microscope stands looks shiny and even, with no dents or scratches. The microscope comes with one lens and one eyepiece, both original from the period. The oscillating mirror located under the stage is double and remains in good condition. All the mobile component parts move fluidly. The stage with clips is made of matt dark metal: its sober surface boasts a delicate antique patina that makes a nice contrast with the shiny golden brass. This instrument comes in its original storing box, made of lovely light-colored mahogany wood. Delicate and beautiful, this antique compound microscope will shine in a showcase with scientific instruments from the 19th century. Measurements: Width: 4.7 in / 12 cm. Height: 11.2 in / 28.5 cm.
