Fine antique student microscope made in the late 19th or 20th century (circa 1900). This item remains in excellent condition and preserves all its original component parts and pieces. It also shows a very good working order: the lens enables a neat visualization of the samples and can be used just when it was originally made, more than one hundred years ago. The microscope comes in its original storing case, a sober solid-wooden box in great condition too. The instruments foot is made of black-lacquered cast iron. It is composed of an inclined rear side with two front legs that provide the microscope with stability. The black lacquered finish is in amazing condition and looks shiny and even. Over the legs we can see the stage with the clips, and under it, the one-sided mirror that focus the light on the samples. At the back of the microscope, a lacquered curved piece holds the brass turret. The golden metal looks also very well preserved, with no traces of rust and with the original transparent varnish that protects its surface and provides it with a gorgeous patina. The turrets rack is in perfect working order and makes it possible to get a proper focus. In general, all the microscopes mobile component parts move fluidly and softly. The storing case is made in light-colored solid mahogany wood and remains in fine condition. Outside it preserves the original polished finish and inside it keeps the original hinges and the wooden velvet-covered pieces that help maintain the microscope stable in order to transport it safely. With a simple design and truly original, this antique student microscope will shine on the desk of a scientist or a lover of technical antiques. Measurements: Height (Medium Position): 9.48 in / 25 cm.
