Very rare antique English Pillischer brass microscope made in England circa 1890, complete and in amazing condition. The microscope in entirely made of brass; the metal is just like new and keeps the original transparent lacquer that protects its surface. This ancient varnish provides it with a warm and profound patina, typical of late-19th-century instruments and quite good looking. The microscope works perfectly, with the rack-and-pinion system fully functional and greatly preserved. The fine adjustment system contains remains of old grease that prevent it to move softly upwards. Nevertheless, it can be easily moved with the hand. Attached to the microscopes turret we can see the articulated magnifying glass, original and perfectly preserved. The double-sided mirror located under the stage is also in optimal condition though being such a fragile element. At the back of the brass foot we find a plate with the manufacturers name, PILLISCHER LONDON, and the serial number engraved directly in the metal: 3193. This item comes with a set of two lenses and two eyepieces. The microscope and the accessories can be stored in an antique solid mahogany wooden box with inner compartments. This very rare antique English Pillischer brass microscope is more than one century old, a very attractive piece which remains fully functional. Dimensions: Width: 4.8 in / 12 cm.
