Antique Spencer microscope made in USA circa 1920, with mahogany-wooden storing case and in fine condition. The microscope stands out for its stylish design, with a black-enameled finish which covers nearly the whole device. It mounts three-lens revolving nosepiece, two lenses being signed by the brand and an unsigned one. All the component parts move fluidly and softly, making it possible to use the microscope to watch samples in full detail. The black finish is well preserved and only shows signs of the trace of time at the turret and the lenses. The adjustment screws and some other parts are made of brass and show a fine old-time patina. At the nosepieces base we can see a small engraved inscription containing the makers name, SPENCER. The storing case is the original one except for the door, which was once substituted by a similar antique piece. The lock and the key are in working order. Elegant and original, this antique Spencer microscope preserves all the charm of turn-of-the-century scientific instruments. Dimensions: Width: 5.91 in / 15 cm. Height: 12.6 in / 32 cm.
