Antique English Jones microscope made in England in 1870 and in good condition. This is quite a rare model, original from the time and very interesting for any collector. Though it bears no signatures or marks, the storing case is marked W.A. JONES. Moreover, its design its quite similar to those of the devices made by the British manufacturer. The microscope mounts a green-enameled brass or bronze tripod-shaped foot which provides it with stability and sturdiness. The rest of the instrument is made of brass, except for the black metal sample plate. The brass component parts are in fine condition and preserve the original transparent lacquer finish. All the pieces move fluidly and make it possible to use the microscope to watch samples. The storing case is made of solid mahogany wood and is in great condition. Inside we find one eyepiece and one objective, as well as two paper stickers with a handwritten name and a date from 1870. The lock and the key are original too and remain in perfect working order. Rare and greatly preserved, this antique English Jones microscope is bound to belong to a collector with a passion for ancient scientific instruments. Dimensions: Foot: Side: 4,72 in / 12 cm. Height: 11.81 in / 30 cm.
