Striking antique English microscope made in England circa 1880, in superb condition and good working order. This microscope mounts a simple mechanical sample plate and comes with 2 eyepieces, 2 objectives and an accessory set to prepare samples. It also includes a small box with ancient samples with handwritten French names, which makes us think that it could possibly have been made for the French market. The microscope and the accessories are stored in the original case, a gorgeous mahogany wooden box with operating lock and key. The microscopes stand is made of mahogany wood too; the instrument itself is composed of a series of greatly-preserved brass component parts. The sample plate includes a mobile magnifying glass and different screws to regulate the samples position. The rack-and-pinion system is in good condition and works smoothly. As beautiful as authentic, this striking antique English microscope is a piece full of charm and history. Dimensions: Width: 5.3 in / 13.5 cm. Depth: 6.3 in / 16 cm. Height: 12.6 in / 32 cm.
