Antique Music Box with 6 Melodies in very good working order. Switzerland, Circa 1900

Gorgeous antique music box with 6 tunes and hand-decorated solid wooden box, complete mechanism and in excellent working order. The box was made in Switzerland in the early 20th century (circa 1900) and has survived to our days in striking condition. The mechanism has been checked in order to guarantee a perfect performance, and nowadays the box can perfectly play 6 complete tunes with all the charm of turn-of-the-century music antiques. It preserves the original lock and key in working order and the lovely silvery-metal keyhole too. As stated before, the box is made of hand-decorated solid wood. It boasts a fine lacquered finish with two types of decoration. Inside the box shows a faux-ebony finish with a shiny black surface; inside it bears a faux-wood finish with a brown background and black veneers. The faux-wood finish shows a high-quality look and an outstanding beauty. The covers edge is also black and in the center it bears a delicate sticker depicting a golden and red classic motive. Stack to the covers inner side we can see an antique paper label with a printed garland, the models name (SUPEREXTRA) and a dull list of tunes. The mechanism is protected by a lid with wood frame and a glass pane. This lid makes it possible to watch the boxs operation. All the component parts are original and remain in great condition, even the metal comb that preserves all its teeth. The music box has a tune counter (a metal piece with numbers 1 to 6 and an arrow pointing to the corresponding tune number) and two knows that let the user start and stop the mechanism, and also repeat a melody or change it. The knobs bear indicative words clearly engraved in the silvery-metal surface. This antique music box is a stunning piece, full of charm and beauty and with a great decorative potential.
