A large 10 Melodies Music Box with Automaton Butterflies, made in Switzerland for the English market between 1880 and 1900. It is in extraordinary optical and working condition. This Swiss music box is truly beautiful! And it is in superb preservation condition with a mechanics in perfect working condition, and with its complete comb. It was manufactured for sale in the English market. It offers an enviable presence, with a case handcrafted by a master cabinetmaker with hardwood inlays. Its lid shows a three-dimensional drawing representing a four-pointed star. It has the capacity to reproduce up to 10 different complete compositions. The tuning is reproduced with the same accuracy as on the day of its manufacture. Both the rivets, the rotating cylinder and the comb are in impeccable condition. In addition, the case includes three butterfly-shaped automatons that gently strike the bells that accompany the main melody. Their mechanics offer the possibility of repeating either just one of the tunes or all of them, one after the other. The string is enough to listen to all the melodies with a single charge. It is recharged by means of an operating lever. It is difficult to find a box with these magnificent characteristics, condition and quality. I am of the belief that it is the special antiques that choose their new owners and not the other way around as we tend to think. This is a very special box in search of someone very special. It is of great size. Measures: 22 cm (height), 47 cm (width), 28,5 cm (depth).
