Fantastic Spanish 'Verbena' toy organillo with four tunes, 1960.

Fantastic Spanish Toy Organillo Verbena nº 728 with four melodies manufactured in 1960. Lovely red box with damaged varnish. The marking is clearly visible on the front of the organ with a beautiful yellow lettering, matching the front handle. On the back of the organillo there is an original paper sticker with the instructions for use. On one of the sides it has the mark of the patent in charge of distributing this device: CASA DE JUGUETES REIG. Likewise, on the other side, it has a small transparent envelope glued, where the well-known songs that the barrel organ plays are indicated: La Calesera, Serranillo, La violetera and Una morena y una rubia, and a crank to choose the reproduction of one of the four melodies. Moving down a front cover, and up a top cover, you can access the fantastic mechanism of this device that are put into operation by the movement of the crank. Inside we find perfectly distributed the cymbals and bells that make the fantastic melody is produced. It has two rods corresponding to two notes, detached, but attached with the device. Apart from this detail, this device is in a perfect working condition, with a very loud and clear sound that can be heard from the first day.We are used to admire organs of large dimensions or large wingspan but we must take into account that this device has undergone an incredible evolution. We can find of this instrument a wide variety of models ranging from gigantic size to real miniatures, little organs of funny shapes and of all imaginable types. This little gadget was our ancestors' way of listening to music, so distant from the musical technology we live in these times. Since 1934, the toy company Claudio Reig S.L. has been manufacturing a wide variety of musical toys, from a simple drum to a complicated electronic keyboard.
