Spectacular antique music box made in Switzerland by the prestigious Mermod Freres brand circa 1890, with 10 tunes, fully restored and in perfect working order. It has a comb of 62 notes that its complete. The whole mechanism has been cleaned, restored and adjusted and today works perfectly. At one end we can see that the machinery has a Jacots Safety Check mechanism. The music box uses a crank to wind it up and has an interior compartment to store it. The melody selector allows you to select one of them in particular, in addition to being able to play each one, one after another, or to repeat a particular one.The outer wooden box has also been restored and looks lovely, just like the first day. The top is made of tropical wood, possibly tropical mahogany, and features a marquetry inlay with a central shield in rosewood and strips of lemongrass wood. It is of great size, measures 57 cms of width. (22.5 inches)Today the music boxes made by Mermod Freres (Mermod Brothers) are some of the most sought after and quoted pieces, for their quality and sound. The company was located in Ste. Croix, Switzerland. His father was a prestigious watchmaker and had 3 children, Louis Philippe, Gustav and Leon, who in 1883 founded the company Mermod Freres for the manufacture of music boxes and watches.
