Great antique street organ with an imposing presence, made in Spain by Luis Casali in the early 20th century (circa 1920). The organ is really big in size, almost like a piano, and is in perfect working order. It is completely made of light-colored mahogany wood, with a lovely golden reddish tone. The wood has been fully restored and now shines in full splendor under the fine French-polish finish that provides it with glow and warmth. The organs mechanism has also been revised and tuned, and today it can play old-time melodies with the great charming sound of antique mechanical instruments. The organ has 60 string notes and 5 bell notes that make it possible to play a sum of 10 melodies. It is one of the first models produced by Luis Casalis factory. He was an Italian entrepreneur that established in Barcelona in 1918. The factory kept on producing organs and instruments until 1935, when Casali eventually stopped the activity. The name, address and medals awarded to the company are embossed in a golden-brass plate embedded in the central part of the organ. The instrument also mounts other brass operating component parts, all of them looking shiny and in magnificent condition. In order to use the street organ, we must only turn the big brass crank located at the right front side. To change the tune and play a new one, we will have to lift the lever located at the right and move the small crank. Decades ago these instruments were indispensable in Spanish verbenas, street dances, etc. They became quite popular in the country during the first half of the 20th century. The great charm and quality of this antique street organ will stand out in any stylish dining room. Measurements: Width: 52 in / 133 cm. Height: 51 in / 130 cm.
