This spectacular vintage typewriter is a Stoewer Record, a German model from 1921 that stands out because of its elegance and strength. The machine is made of black-enameled cast-iron, with a glossy finish in very good condition. It comes in its original case, made of black-lacquered metal sheet and with original lock and key in working order. The case bears the printed name of the model, Stoewer Record, clearly printed in white lettering with nice shading that provides it with relief. The typewriter was made by the company Nähmascinenfabrik Bernahard Stoewer A.G., founded originally by Bernhard Stoewer in 1858 to manufacture sewing machines. In 1893 the company started producing bicycles and in 1903 they launched their first typewriters. The firm became successful because of the quality of its designs, among which we can highlight the Stoewer Record (the model we can see in these images) and the Stoewer Elite typewriters. A curious feature of the Stoewer typewriters is that their keywords lack the backspace key and this function is fulfilled by the small chromed lever located to the right. At the front of the machine, just over the keyboard we can see the models name printed in golden lettering and flanked by a series of medals: prizes awarded to the company in international events. Over the chariot the word STOEWER is also printed in big letters. The keyboard makes a nice contrast with the enameled iron body, as it is composed of circular keys with white background and black letters. Each piece is reinforced by a chromed-metal ring. All this typewriters component parts are original and work perfectly. All lovers of vintage typewriters will appreciate this magnificent pieces beautiful design and perfect working order.
