Magnificent Remington Standard No. 10 Typewriter. United States, 1910

Impressive Remington Standard Nº 10 typewriter in very good condition and working order. This piece, solid and antique, boasts an evocative and appealing design that makes it stand out. The machines body, made of black-enameled cast iron, is composed of four thick pillars that make up a supporting structure for the mechanism. At the front side the base extends to house the keyboard. The structure lets us see the inner mechanism and creates a fascinating design. The typewriter has been fully revised and oiled to guarantee an optimal working order. At the top of the typewriter, just over the carriage we can see the brand name Remington printed on golden lettering. The models name is also printed at the front: Remington Standard Typewriter Nº 10. Remington & Sons was created in New York in 1816 to manufacture firearms (the famous Remington rifles) and sewing machines. In 1873 the company made an agreement with Densmore & Yost to manufacture the Sholes and Glidden typewriter, the first model that allowed an operator to type substantially faster than a person could write by hand. In 1908 the firm launched their first frontstrike (visible) typewriter: the Remington 10 that we can see in these images. In this typewriter, printed at the front and just over the keyboard we can see the inscription GLOGWSKI & CO. WIEN. It is the name of a typing school located in Vienna; the typewriter probably belonged to them. The keyboard is composed of circular pieces with white background and black symbols. The keys bear the classic nickel-plated ring that embellishes and reinforces them. They are all original, being in perfect working order and great condition. At the back of the machine we can see again the name Remington printed in golden lettering and very well preserved. Its amazing design, solid and full of nostalgia, turns this Remington typewriter into a real collectors item.
