This beautiful typewriter is a Continental Silenta in great condition and perfect working order. It was made in Germany in the 1930s and stands out for its shiny finish, balanced design and nostalgic charm. The machine has been fine-tuned and works wonderfully; it can be used to type any kind of document. It bears the models name, CONTINENTAL SILENTA, printed in golden lettering on the front window. Over the carriage we can also see the brand name CONTINENTAL.Continental Typewriters were produced by the Wanderer Fahrradwerke, a company founded in Schönau, Germany in 1894. The firm produced motorcycles, computing (adding) machines and cars. By the late 1930s the company had become the biggest office machine manufacturer in Europe and employed 9.300 workers. The Continental Silenta was patented in Germany in 1931 and was designed to reduce noise at work. In 1939 it was also patented in the United States.This typewriters name, Silenta, speaks of its silent operation. It is a quality machine that was considered a relevant innovation at the time, especially compared to similar models such as Remington Noiseless. The typewriter that we can see in the images shows clearly its great design it is robust, functional and easy to handle. The keyboard is composed of black pieces with white symbols; it is complete and in excellent condition. The golden decals are also very well preserved and so are the chrome-plated component parts and the inner mechanism.
