Beautiful and smart Olivetti typewriter, made in Italy in 1940. It is a very attractive and well preserved model, which works wonderfully too. This typewriter was made in Italy for the French market, as we can verify looking at the keyboard and the inscription at the rear: Fabrique En Italie. This typewriter is Olivetti M40. Olivetti was founded in 1908 in Ivrea, Italy. As well as being a benchmark in the typewriter industry, this company also developed calculators (such as the popular Divisuma) and produced the first Italian computer in 1959. This lovely typewriter is made of black-lacquered iron. It is also decorated with the name of the brand and other inscriptions in golden letters. At the front, just over the keyboard, we can see the words Manufacturing Olivetti & C. S.A. Ivrea M40 (the typewriters brand, city and model). To the right of the inscription we can see the logo. The name Olivetti is also over the carriage, in an elegant golden signature. The keyboard is white with black letters and symbols, except for some black, red and blue keys. The keys are round and framed by the typical silvery metal ring. One of the most interesting features of this typewriter is its excellent working order. The typist can write perfectly with it, and all its components work smoothly. The machine writes wonderfully, something almost incredible if we consider its old age. In essence, this is a vintage typewriter made by a prestigious brand, and it is a highly decorative and functional article. The best acquisition for the most relevant collection.
