Antique Rheinmetall Portable Typewriter, 1930's.

This outstanding antiquye typewriter, a portable model made by Rheinmetall in the 1930s, is quite an attractive piece with a surprisingly contemporary design. The machine remains in great condition and comes in its original storing case, designed to carry it comfortably. It has a cast-iron body with a fine reddish enameled finish that imitates mahogany wood. The finish looks even and shiny, and provides the typewriters sober design with quite an attractive aesthetic. The enameled finish shows off a reddish-brown background with slim parallel black strokes that provide it with authenticity and depth. Over the typewriters carriage we can see the Rheinmetall logo printed in golden lettering. The same logo but smaller in size can be seen over the keyboard, at the top left corner of the typewriter. The keyboard is composed of white pieces with black symbols and letters; just like the rest of the machines component parts, it is in strikingly good condition. As for the carrying case, it shows clear signs of the trace of time and use but it has fulfilled its duty perfectly and can still be used to protect and carry the typewriter. For its surprising and lovely design and its great condition, this antique Rheinmetall typewriter is worthy of a starring place in any collection.Rheinmetall Typewriters History Rheinmetall typewriters were made by the German company of the same name, founded in 1890 to manufacture weapons and artillery pieces. Before World War I the company was quite powerful but after the content it suffered a crisis that led the people in charge to widen their production including objects for peace. It was then when the factory started producing typewriters and pinwheel calculators. In 1933 Rheinmetall merged with A Borsig, an armament factory, and in 1938 the firm got closely related with the Nazi government as Hermann Goering acquired an important investment in it.
