This beautiful antique Olympia typewriter is a classic model, of great quality and in fantastic condition, both aesthetically and in use. History of Olympia typewriters In 1903, the powerful German company AEG took into consideration the success that American typewriters were experiencing in Europe and decided to join the trend. The firm's engineer Friedrich von Hefner-Altenech helped develop the Mignon model, which was the first step towards what would become a giant in the typewriter industry: the Olympia series. Officially, the company began using this brand name in 1936. During World War II, the original factory was bombed and production (along with the Olympia brand) was moved to West Germany, against the wishes of the Communist German government. Once in the West, the brand began to expand and achieved great success in the years that followed. Olympia machines were of superior quality to their competitors, incorporating the highest precision German engineering and better quality materials (steel and chrome). These features have contributed to the fact that many of the antique Olympia machines have survived to the present day in excellent condition.
