Antique Orga Typewriter Mod. 2. Germany, 1940's

Antique Orga mod. 2 typewriter with the SS symbol in the keyboard, made in Germany in the 1940s and in excellent working order. This typewriter is a very rare piece, a real collectors item with historical relevance. As well as preserving its fine old-time essence, this machine works really well and can be used to type documents. The typewriters design stands out for its simplicity and sturdiness, with a black-lacquered cast-iron body and four bank keyboard. Over the keyboard at the left we can see a partially-worn white inscription which indicates that it is Model 2. Over the carriage there is another inscription with the brand name ORGA in black and white lettering, perfectly preserved. The typerwriters keyboard is composed of four Banks with circular pieces, with black background and White symbols. Each key mounts a nickel-plated ring, a usual feature in old-time typewriters. The symbols show different shades of white and ochre cause by the trace of time, but still they remain perfectly legible. At the right side of the top bank we can see a keyboard with the SS symbol over the slash (/). If we turn the typewriter upside down, inside the rear part we will find a silvery-metal plate with the engraved serial number 217132. Any lover of historical antiques and ancient machines will be dazzled by this antique ORGA model 2 typewriter, a very rare piece in perfect working order.Orga Typewriters History In 1922, the tin-toy producer Bing-Werke AG from Nurnberg, Germany entered the field of typewriter manufacturing by launching the ORGA. This was a four-bank model which mounted a removable carriage, single shift and 44 keys. Soon the company would develop and produce a new version of the same model, aiming to fulfil the requirements of those who needed a sturdy typewriter at an affordable price. The new model was launched under the ORGA Privat name.
