Striking vintage microscope made in Germany in the 1950s. This item is a part of a complete set including (together with the microscope) the original solid wooden case with lock and key, a text book about microscope use written in German, an electric torch in perfect working order, a set of vintage samples and extra eyepieces and lenses. The microscope works like new and has survived to our days in excellent condition, just like the rest of the accessories. The instrument bears the name of Dr. Adolf Schroeder from Kassel (Germany), and the objectives and eyepieces are signed by Otto Seibert der Jüngere (the young) from Wetlzar. This data and more information about the objectives are printed in a paper leaf located inside the cases door. The torch is designed to light the samples in order to view them correctly and bears the name of Carl Zeiss Jenna from Wetlzar.Otto Seibert was an optical material manufacturer located in the German city of Wetlzar. The company is still open in Germany under the market name Seibert Otto Wetzlar GmbH & Co.KG; it makes optical material and instruments, and also microscope lenses. On the other hand, the torchs brand corresponds to the prestigious microscope manufacturer Carl Zeiss Jenna, also from Wetzlar. The text book that comes with the instrument is headed MIKROSKOPIE - FÜR LEHRER UND NATURFREUNDE (Microscope For students and friends of nature) and was written by Werner Schlüter. This book was first published in 1955 and nowadays can still be found for sale, conveniently updated and together with other works by the same author. The microscope has a black-enameled iron frame, and the objectives and mobile parts are made of silvery metal. It has a triple revolving nosepiece and is wonderfully preserved. The vintage samples that come with the microscope are stored in a sliding wooden box and some of them bear brand names such as Felix Kunze (Leipzig) or H. Boecker (Wetzlar). There are all labeled with the samples name and some have hand-written numbers. The case where the set is stored is made of solid beech wood, with the wood pieces disposed in different directions to make up a nice veneer combination. It also has fine dovetail joints and a great satin finish, having survived to our days in great condition. This complete and attractive microscope is part of a great investigation set, highly interesting for scientists and lovers of special vintage instruments.Measurements: Width: 180 mm.
