This fine antique binocular microscope was made in the 19th century, circa 1870. It comes from England and is signed at its base, where we can see the inscription Hudson & Son GREENWICH engraved in the metal with smart lettering. The microscope keeps all its original parts and works fine. The brass preserves its original lacquer in good condition. Though some parts show signs of wear, the microscopes overall look is quite attractive and the conservation state is wonderfuil.The microscope has micrometrical adjustment system and all the rack and pinion components work smoothly. It is accompanied by a lens, two pairs of oculars and a live box. It also has a 4 aperture disc diaphragm and a concave mirror, with some blurry lines but usable. For preparations slides has a mechanical control system with XY movement that works perfectly. It measures 15 1/2 inches (38 cms) in closed position without the wood base.All the parts come into a solid mahogany wood case, in good condition and with its original top metal handle. The instrument also comes with a series of letters typed in 1929. They are part of a private correspondence that the owner of the microscope kept with F. Stanley & Co. In order to value the articles improvement and reparation. These letters are original documents in very good condition that provide this article with high interest.This Hudson binocular microscope is almost a museum piece because of its ancient age, its rarity and its great conservation state. It surely deserves a place in the best collection of scientific antiques.Measurements: Width: 170 mm. Height: 400 mm.
