Antique microscope manufactured in 1910 by one of the oldest optical material manufacturers in France, Nachet. It is a student microscope. The piece is made of black-lacquered iron, with several elements made of silvery metal and brass. The two-lens revolving nosepiece this microscope mounts bears two objectives with the words NACHET PARIS engraved in the metal.Camille Sebastien Nachet was a Parisian optician that worked in the late 19th century. He manufactured lenses for famous French manufacturer Chevalier. Later he opened a small workshop and started his own business, and he was succeeded by his son Jean Alfred under the name Nachet et Fils. The firm became one of the three more relevant makers in Paris, together with Chevalier and Oberhauser.This microscope nice design and good working order are details that reveal a quality making performed by a great manufacturer. The instrument keeps all its original parts and components, from the oscillating mirror designed to give light to the samples, the polished brass turret, the 5 magnification eyepiece and the lenses to the sample plate and its thongs and the adjustment screws.Its compact design and good operation turn this simple antique microscope into a highly interesting piece, bound to complete a good collection.Measurements: Width: 220 mm.
