Antique Ernst Leitz Wetzlar microscope from 1906. This is a smart scientific research instrument, a microscope that is more than one hundred years old and is in excellent condition, working perfectly too. The article comes in its original wooden case, which has compartments to house accessories such as objectives, eyepieces or sample plates. The instruments base I made of black-lacquered iron and the top shows different brass parts, gilded in two tones of gold. There are also silvery metal components.The upper parts are polished and shiny, providing this antique instrument with a great beauty. The microscope keeps all its parts in great condition: the oscillating mirror, the turret, the objectives, the eyepiece, the gears In one of the legs there is an engraved inscription with the name of the maker, E. LEITZ WETZLAR and the instruments serial number: Nº 85445. The wooden case where the microscope is stored is also very well preserved: it is made of planks whose veneer make a nice and dynamic design. It also has dovetail joints and keeps the original handle, lock and keyhole.Inside the cases lid there is a card with the printed serial number and date of making: 24/m/1906. We can also read the manufacturers name, E. Leitz, and two cities: Berlin New York. Ernst Leitz Wetlzar was a brand founded by E. Leitz engineering in Wetzlar, Germany. This company was one of the most relevant and prestigious makers of optic material in the first half of the 20th century. This indicates that the microscope we are looking at is a first class article, whose excellent condition turns it into a great acquisition for any self-respecting collector.Measurements: Width: 160 mm.
