This great vintage Steindorff microscope was made in Germany in the 1960s. As well as being in excellent condition and working order, the microscope comes in its original wooden case and is accompanied by a series of accessories. It is a binocular microscope with black-enameled iron frame and three piece revolving nosepiece. The lenses are marked with different color lines (red, yellow and green) that indicate their magnification. All the instruments components are quite well preserved: the original black enamel boasts its attractive satin finish and the mobile metal parts work like new, with no evident signs of wear except for the logical signs of use and the of the trace of time.On the black enamel we can see the white printed name of the manufacturing company and the city where it was located: STEINDORFF BERLIN. Steindorff company was founded in Berlin, Germany in 1879, and until the end of production in the 1980s at least 100.000 Steindorf microscopes left the German workshops. They were high quality instruments at affordable prices, so they became very popular. In the end, Steindorff started to decline and they began to commercialize Chinese microscopes of not so good quality. This particular microscope was made in Germany, and its quality and beautiful design are evident; it has a black plate screwed to the bottom front part with the inscription MADE IN WEST GERMANY that testifies for its origin. Another inscription printed in white in this magnificent piece shows the serial number: 660644.As stated before, the microscope comes in its original wooden case that has been fully restored and is in optimal condition. The case keeps the original rubber legs, the lock and the fixing screw, as well as the doors original metal hinges. Inside we can also find the objectives cases, extra eyepieces, two thongs to fix the sample plates, a measurement instrument and three transparent plastic cases, two of them containing some greenish grey material. This vintage Steindorff microscope is a collectors piece that joins a great design with a perfect functionality.Measurements: Width: 180 mm.
