The watch house was founded in Saint-Imier (Switzerland) in 1832 and now is 180 years old. Its founder was Auguste Agassiz, but it was his nephew Ernest Francillon who in 1850 intended to carry on the whole the watchmaking process in an only factory. In order to do that, in 1866 he acquired two plots in a place called Les Longines and built the factory on them. Then, the company adopted the places name. From 1867 Longines has a logo of a winged sand clock that sets it apart from its competitors. Nowadays the firm is part of The Swatch Group. The watch is really nice. The white face bears Arab numbers, a second hand and stylizes and lovely volute-shaped hands. The rear cap has a central shield designed to engrave the owners initials in it; inside it has some hallmarks engraved in the metal, as well as the brands logo and the serial number 1799158. These inscriptions appear again inside the dustcap; at the front it bears an engraving of various medals awarded to the company in international events. The movement has also the name LONGINES engraved in the metal, and the serial number too. This watch is a valuable real Longines that combines it high accuracy with a exceptionally beautiful design.Measurements: Width: 50 mm.
