Beautiful solid silver Longines pocket watch made in 1901. This watch is a real jewel and is in very good condition, working like the first day of use. The piece bears various hallmarks in different parts that testify for its authenticity and for the quality of the precious metal it is made of. The ring and the piece that connects it with the box bear this kind of marks, and the rear cap and dustcap also show significant stamps and inscriptions.Longines brand is a real referent in the field of Swiss accuracy watchmaking. The watch house was founded in Saint-Imier (Switzerland) in 1832 and now is 180 years old. Its founder was Auguste Agassiz, but it was his nephew Ernest Francillon who in 1850 intended to carry on the whole the watchmaking process in an only factory. In order to do that, in 1866 he acquired two plots in a place called Les Longines and built the factory on them. Then, the company adopted the places name. From 1867 Longines has a logo of a winged sand clock that sets it apart from its competitors. Nowadays the firm is part of The Swatch Group. The watch is really nice. The white face bears Arab numbers, a second hand and stylizes and lovely volute-shaped hands. The rear cap has a central shield designed to engrave the owners initials in it; inside it has some hallmarks engraved in the metal, as well as the brands logo and the serial number 1799158. These inscriptions appear again inside the dustcap; at the front it bears an engraving of various medals awarded to the company in international events. The movement has also the name LONGINES engraved in the metal, and the serial number too. This watch is a valuable real Longines that combines it high accuracy with a exceptionally beautiful design.Measurements: Width: 50 mm.
