Antique Verge-Fusee Pocket Watch. Double Silver Casing. Robert Bateman, London, 1829

Outstanding antique verge-fusee semi hunter pocket watch with double silver casing, made by Robert Bateman in London in 1829 and in good condition and working order. This attractive watch stands out mainly for its sober design, with front silver cap and a central circular opening (in both cases) which makes it possible to read the time without lifting it. The dial which rests under the cases is white, with double Roman numerals and gilt ‘poire’ hands. Both cases have hallmarks inside their rear caps which tell us the watch was made in London in 1829. The gorgeous movement which hides the inner case is profusely decorated with engraved motifs, as well as bearing the signature of Robt. Bateman, London and the serial number 7269.
