Antique Hand Painted Porcelain Vase. Qing Dynasty. China, Ca. 1900

This gorgeous porcelain vase is an antique piece and with a remarkable decorative power. It was made by hand in China circa 1900, in the last period of the Qing dynasty. This centennial dynasty ended in 1912 when Puyi, also known as the last emperor, abdicated. The vase boasts a classic and balanced shape, with the central body covered with lovely hand-painted traditional scenes. These scenes take place in a natural background, a fine landscape full of trees, lakes, rocks and mountains. The vase has a restoration at its base. Nevertheless, this detail scarcely interferes with the pieces great look and lovely decoration. The vases central part is completely covered by the stated scenes. They depict a great natural landscape with twisted trees and plants. Some peaceful scenes take place in this background, with a series of traditionally-dressed characters that perform different activities. We can see well-off characters (recognizable by their elegant garments and the servants that accompany them) and peasants too. Some of them are riding horses, mules or donkeys, in some cases led by the mentioned servants. The scenes take place at different levels: in the foreground we can see a caravan of riders and at the background and on top of them remain the peasants, the mountains and the rivers. The vases neck shows a different decoration: it is also delicately painted by hand and shows a nice fringe that frames cherry branches and traditional objects such as kites. On top of this fringe there are two different scenes, both of them depicting couples of men relaxing and chatting. At the top of the vase there is a green irregular line that completes its magnificent decoration. Because of its delicate design and awesome painted decoration, this antique Chinese vase is a lovely piece that will not remain unnoticed. Measurements: Width: 3.9 in / 10 cm. Height: 8.6 in / 22 cm.
