Lovely small figure made of ox bone in the beginning of the 20th century, which represents a stylized woman in traditional Chinese clothes. The figure is delicately hand-carved with high detail and precision, and it stands on a circular three-legged wooden base, covered by a dark varnish and with the typical Oriental aesthetic. The ox bone is not only carved, but some places have been enhanced with light strokes of black paint to highlight features such as the hair, the eyes or the rope that the woman is holding. The carving of the clothes and the folds are quite remarkable when speaking of the carving work. The artist also enhanced the border of the kimono, the wide sleeves and the folds of the skirt under the robe, which covers the legs and feet of the figure. The woman shows a elaborated hairdo in the shape of a high bun; it is carefully carved hair by hair, and decorated with thin black strokes. The woman is also wearing a pair of earrings, and her face shows a peaceful expression, enhanced by the black strokes that bring life to her eyes. The string that the figure is holding is also carved and painted in black, like the ponytail which falls over the womans back. The high detail and delicacy of the carving and the painting come together with the stylized proportions of the figure to form a wonderful work of art, typical of the Chinese art from the beginning of the 20th century. Overall, this delicate figure is a beautiful antique and a first-class decorative piece, full of history and legends, which undoubtedly stand out in any rooms decoration. Measurements: 60 mm width x 150 mm height.
