This original Chinese porcelain piece is as beautiful as antique, and is also in very good condition. It is an object designed to store hats or wigs. The porcelain keeps its subtle colors just like new, showing no cracks or dents. The article is hexagonal in shape and dates from the 19th century, though it could even be older. The panels which make up this porcelain are decorated with images of the Chinese immortals, traditional and popular deities who carry a series of objects with different powers, all of them intended to do good things. They are also decorated with curious lobed holes which pass through the porcelain and make it lighter. The panels are ivory-white and are painted with images in different pastel colors. The immortals are scattered all over the piece, in the middle of a country landscape with trees, rocks, mountains and plants. The decoration is nice and is skillfully performed, with firm and elegant strokes and a deep sense of color and composition. The motives are dynamic and provide the scenes with movement, turning this porcelain into a very decorative item. The base and edge of the piece show the furnace mark. This mark is a brownish color which dyes white porcelain during the firing process, and is due to the heat generated in the furnace. This feature indicates that the piece is fully artisanal. The decoration is also hand-painted. The ancient age of this piece; its original shape and its beautiful decoration turn it into a first-class antique, intended to become part of the best collection of Oriental porcelains. Measurements: 135 mm width x 285 mm height.
