Antique Folding Sundial with Built-in Compass.

Fine antique sundial with compass, made in China and with engraved decoration. It is a foldable piece with adjustable legs and original glass cabochons embedded in each leg. The dial is missing, the bubble is damaged and the compass is not in working order so this is just a decorative item. The adjustable legs were originally designed to level the instrument and enable a precise calculation of the solar time and a proper working of the compass. Embedded on top of each leg we can see a lovely glass cabochon original from the period - there are two red cabochons and a blue one. The fine design of this sundial, its engraved decoration and the fine colored glasses make up a beautiful piece that, in addition, comes in its original case. The case is a dark wooden box with one of its sides missing, but otherwise remains in good condition.
