Superb antique Chinese one-thousand-faces fan with lacquered sticks and golden chinoiserie decoration, made in the 19th century and wonderfully preserved. The sticks are in good condition, with no broken or worn parts the sticks show a complex and fine shape and bear a black-lacquered finish with gorgeous hand-painted chinoiserie-style motifs. The motifs are finely preserved and look as bright and lively as the first day. The leaf is also in good condition. It has a beautiful decoration, known as one-thousand-faces because of the multiple small figures with hand-painted natural meterial faces. These fans are also known as Mandarin fans or Canton fans. The leaf of this fan is decorated with different colorful scenes, all of them on a green and blue background composed of gardens, rooms and lakes or rivers. The scenes are populated by different figures, dressed in rich traditional outfits painted in red, purple, blue, yellow The overall effect is quite attractive and bright, full of life and joy. At the bottom of the sticks there is a secondary leaf, decorated with vegetal-style motifs on a purple background and a bird in the center. Just like at the top, the artists handwork is exquisite and remains finely preserved. The fan keeps the original silk tassel, being a great piece with a huge decorative power.
