Rare solid gold pocket watch with chronometer and quarter strike made in Switzerland for the French market, circa 1910. All the features of the watch are in perfect working order, both the chronometer and the chime with quarter repeater. It has been overhauled and tuned by a master watchmaker. This precious watch has three covers, 55 mm in diameter and is made of 18K gold, as evidenced by the contrasts that appear on the inside of the three covers. The presence of a contrast representing an owl on the neck of the crown attests to the fact that it is Swiss gold for import to France. On the inside of the dust cap there is also a contrast representing a bust of a woman in profile, in the style of cameos, which guarantees that it is Swiss 18K gold. The dial, has Arabic numerals with seconds at the bottom and surrounding the entire dial appears an hour divided into minutes and seconds. By lifting the back cover of the watch we contemplate the dust cover with a series of inscriptions. In it we can read the following: GRAND DIPLOME D'HONEUR - MILAN 1906, with five medals depicted. The word REPETITION refers to the type of chiming of the watch, followed by another inscription MEDAILLE D'OR EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE, followed by six other medals. Finally, at the bottom of the cover is the inscription LIEGE 1905 - SYSTÉME PERFECTIONEÉ. A precious and exclusive piece whose aesthetic beauty is equal to its material value. Measurements of the watch: 55 mm in diameter. You have in front of you a special pocket watch, one of those that will soon disappear, one of those that you like so much to give to someone special to you, to give to yourself or to add to a collection of prestigious watches. It will be sold soon, whether you buy it yourself or if, by mistake, someone else beats you to the punch and beats you to it. I'll tell you why I'm convinced I'll sell it right away. First. It is solid 14K gold. All the covers, all three, are contrasted and numbered. The contrast is a squirrel, indicating that it was made in Switzerland between 1893 and 1934. That pretty much narrows down the era. But if you notice, there is a little lever next to the number four. This little lever is used to set the time. This system is typical of the late nineteenth century. After 1900 it was no longer used. For this reason, the watch is dated between 1893 and 1910. To avoid understatement, I say 1910, but I would date it closer to 1900. The case is spectacularly engraved with typical Modernist motifs, and a beautiful floral representation. As you can see the set is very beautiful. Keep in mind that these cases were engraved by hand, by expert engraving craftsmen. I recently took an antique gold watch with an engraved case to a watchmaker to inspect the movement and the watchmaker was astonished to tell me that this was a magnificent job and that nowadays nobody made engravings of this kind anymore. Third. The rosette on the front cover is unengraved. Often, more often than not, this rosette is engraved with a monogram. Finding an antique clock with a monogram makes it even more valuable! These are the most sought after pieces by collectors as well as people looking to give a special gift. This is a unique piece. All the pieces you see on my site are unique because there is only ONE and I CANNOT get one like it. We antique dealers don't have a big warehouse to get items from. We have to LOOK for them which means we have to FIND them. If you like the watch buy it. I will reserve it in your name, even before you make the payment. I want you to think about one thing. If you really like it and think about it too much someone will beat you to it and you will lose it forever. It happens every day. Do you remember the last time you lost something you liked because you thought twice about it? How did you feel when you went to buy it and it was already sold? Frustrated? Disappointed? Angry with yourself? Don't let that happen to you, be the first and get ahead of everyone else. Right now someone else may be reading these very lines!
