Antique silver antique pocket watch, 1924

Striking antique pocket watch with solid silver casing and hallmarks, made in Birmingham, England in 1924. The watch shows off a sober and elegant design that turns it into a timeless piece full of charm and history. It is in perfect working order: its movement has been fully cleaned and fine-tuned so today the watch can be used with no problem at all. As stated before, the casing or box comes from Birmingham (as indicated by the anchor hallmark in the inner rear cap); nevertheless, the movement bears the inscription SWISS MADE. The watchs box is completely made of solid silver. It bears different hallmarks that testify for its origin and quality; they can be seen in the caps, the box and the piece that connects the crown. The silver looks good and bears a lovely patina created by the trace of time and use. The porcelain face bears some hairlines but it is complete and shows clearly the black Roman numbers. It mounts straight hands and a secondary hand that complete a classic, simple and stylish design. The rear cap is decorated with a nice hand-engraved motive depicting a shield, slight worn. Inside we can see various hallmarks and the serial number 438036. The dustcap is made of sterling silver too. Its outside face is even and flat, and inside it bears several hallmarks (among them a lion corresponding to English silver that can be seen in different parts of the watch), the serial number stated before and the inscription DENNISON WATCH CASE CO. LTD. SPECIAL. The watchs movement rests under it; we can see the inscriptions PLUTO and 15 JEWELS engraved in some of the pieces.
