Classic antique pocket watch with solid silver casing, made in London in 1865 and in amazing condition. This is a gentlemens watch with quite an attractive and sober design. The movement has been fully overhauled and checked so today the watch is in great working order. All the pieces of the casing are made of solid silver and bear the corresponding hallmarks. The piece that connects the crown and the case bears three hallmarks too, perfectly preserved and visible; these hallmarks are present in the different caps too. The front cap is made of glass, original from the period and in great condition. The face that rests under it is made of white porcelain, with black Roman numbers and secondary hand. The main hands are made of black-finished metal; they boast a straight design and are adorned with two symmetrical volutes each. The watchs rear cap is made of lean silver and bears a hand-engraved central shield slightly erased. Inside this cap we can see various hallmarks and inscriptions: the English silver mark, the London city mark, the silversmiths mark (HJ) and the serial number 41416. The dustcap that protects the movement is also made of solid silver. It shows a small hole designed to wind the watch up and is decorated with a lovely hand-engraved floral motive surrounding the mentioned hole. Under this cap we find the watchs movement with the hand-engraved manufacturers signature and address (Cozens Mattheus & Thorpe 10 Bunhill Ro2 - London). One of the pieces bears the engraved serial number 700506. This outstanding antique pocket watch with solid silver casing is a very special piece. A charismatic and gorgeous item, as elegant as functional. Measurements: Width: 44 mm. Height (with Crown): 53 mm.
