Wonderful antique LEspéranto pocket watch with solid-gold 18-carat casing and chiming the minutes. The watch was made in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1900 and is quite well preserved. The movement has been fully overhauled so today the watch works perfectly. The gold casing bears hallmarks in different parts, and one of the caps is beautifully engraved with some inscriptions. The hallmarks (located inside the caps and in the piece that connects the casing with the crown) testify for the quality and the origin of the gold. The front cap is decorated with a grain-like engraved motive, typical of turn-of-the-century pocket watches. Inside we can see a hallmark depicting a womans profile and the mark 18K, corresponding to the carats of the gold. Under this cap, the simple and elegant white face bears fine black Arab numbers and straight hands of the same color. There is also a printed inscription reading G. W. & Cie. The face bears a secondary hand at the bottom. The rear cap bears the same decoration as the front cap. Inside we discover the same hallmark, the mark 18K and the serial number 53398. Under this cap we can see the lovely dustcap; its top bears a series of inscriptions in different types of lettering with details about the movement. At the top of the cap, a series of medals symbolize the prizes awarded to the firm. Inside this cap we find the same hallmark, the 18K mark and part of the stated serial number: 398. This fascinating antique pocket watch is a real jewel, as functional as stylish. It is perfect to complete the wardrobe of a charismatic gentleman. Measurements: Width: 54 mm. Height (with Crown): 66 mm.
