Fine antique Isaac Rogers double-case verge fusee pocket watch made in London 1796, in excellent conservation state and working condition. This is a George-III model with sterling silver and red ttshll. Outer case, adorned with white metal pique work around the barrel of the hinged veneered case, and forming a star design on the back cover of the outer case. The inner case is silver with English hallmarks on the inside of the cover: Lion Guardant for sterling silver, Leopard head with a crown for the London assay office in the 18th century, duty mark with King George looking to the right as he does here. Usually that stamp appeared between the years 1786-1789. The silversmiths initials are shown, but not identified. The long-stemmed silver pendant with ovoid bow dates to the mid-late 18th century. The watch mounts white enameled dial with Roman hours and open bar minute ring, with division of the minutes into thirds by dots between the bars. There are blued steel Beetle and Poker hands. This model has a verge escapement with a chain driven fusee movement. The plates are separated by cylindrical brass pillars, and the decorative work is now solid and not pierced as seen earlier in the 18th century. The lace-edged balance bridge is decorated with an open foliate pierced design and has a large urn at the base, resembling a George-III type of design. The silver regulator has Arabic numerals and the plate is signed for Isaac rogers, London, 20072. This antique and beautifully designed double-case verge fusee pocket watch, signed by Isaac Rogers, is a gorgeous design made by a well-known maker and in a clean functional condition. Medidas: 59 mm.
