Stylish antique solid-silver quarter-repeating cylinder-escapement pocket watch, coming from France and made circa 1820. The watch is in really good condition and great working order. The three-leaf casing is made of solid silver, with open face and original glass front cap. It mounts a silver button pendant and round silver bow placed at the twelve position, and a circular guilloche rear cap. Inside this cap is marked 14331 and 701 with a French hallmark of the bust of an elderly man between the numbers, inside of a tonneau shaped cameo. The hallmark covers various French Departments ranging from 1819-1838. The dial boasts an elegant design with enameled Roman hour chapter ring bounded by knurled guilloche to the inside and the outside, bar minute track to the outside, textured guilloche silvered dial center with blued steel antique Breguet hands. As for the movement, is protected by a gilt-silver cuvette decorated with a hand-engraved inscription with details about the movement and the central word Aiguilles in a fine cursive lettering. The key-wound and key-set movement is made of gilt brass and includes an eight ruby-set cylinder escapement with tapered and parallel brass finger bridges (non-stepped), Swiss type monometallic three arm balance wheel, quarter repeater using two hammers on a double coiled gong.
