Antique Wikelmann verge-fusee pocket watch with silver double case, made in London, England in 1784 and in very good condition. The watch works fine and boasts a beautiful design, with hand-embossed outside and painted dial. The case is made of solid silver and so is the outer case, a feature which turns the watch into a real old-time jewel. The outside cases rear cap is adorned with a fine hand-embossed scene with a number of figures. At the left there is a group which seem to be chatting, and to the right we can see a man on a boat. The image is framed by scrolls. Inside the rear cap we find a paper sheet with different printed inscriptions, among them one which reads J. & F. WELLS Chronometer, Watch & Clock MAKERS. The clock bears a glass front cap which protects the delicate white dial. This piece is embellished with a hand-painted rural landscape in full color. The dial has black Roman numerals for the hours and Arab numerals for the seconds. We can see a slim hairline at the bottom, but the piece is in general good condition. The rear cap is made of silver too and bears different hallmarks, among them the one corresponding to 1784 and the initials S.P. The movement is gorgeous, with a complex scroll decoration and the manufacturers name in cursive lettering: Wikelmann, London. We can also see the serial number 9359. This antique Wikelmann verge-fusee pocket watch with silver double case will stand out in the best collection for its great beauty and really good condition. Dimensions: Diameter: 50 mm.
