Magnificent antique wall clock, big in size (51.1 in / 130 cm height), made of solid hand-engraved wood and in perfect working order. The clock chimes the hours, the halves and the quarters and was made in Germany in the 19th century. The movement contains two gongs one chimes the hourand the other chimes the quarters and the halfs. It works wonderfully as it has been fully fine-tuned in order to guarantee an optimal performance. The solid walnut wooden box has also been restored and it shows off its great beauty in all its glory. At the top, the clock bears a metal plate with an inscription in big black lettering: UNAM TIME. It is a Latin sentence that means watch the time. This plate and the engraved symbol that remains over it (a winged railway wheel) suggest that the clock could have been in an antique train station. The inscription would be bound to remind the passengers of the importance of watching the time so they would not miss their trains. On the other hand, the clocks movement bears an engraved mark with the name GUSTAV BECKER, a prestigious German clockmaker that worked in Freiburg in the 19th century. As well as the GB mark, the movement also bears the engraved patent number (D.R.P. Nº 177600) and the serial 1970183. The pendulum bob is made of golden brass and looks great: it is adorned with an embossed woman profile in a modernist style. Last but not least, the box is certainly gorgeous the solid walnut wood has been profusely turned and hand-carved in order to create a hugely decorative piece. The delicate French-polish finish that protects the surface increases its attractive and provides it with a deep satin glow. This stunning antique wall clock will be the starring piece of the most aristocratic room. Measurements: Width: 17.7 in / 45 cm. Height: 51.1 in / 130 cm.
