Antique Wall Clock with Gilded Appliqués. Germany, Circa 1900

Gorgeous antique ebony-finished wooden Wall clock with ormolu details, made in Germany circa 1900 and in perfect working order. The clocks movement has been thoroughly cleaned in order to guarantee a perfect performance, so today it is both a decorative and functional piece. The box is made of solid wood and bears a fine faux-ebony finish that provides it with a deep black shade. Over this dark color, the ormolu decoration stands out and creates a very attractive design perfect for a stylish dining room or a charismatic entrance hall. The clocks box is classical in style and shows of a stylized design with two clearly different parts. At the top we can see the circular dial, made of white-enameled metal sheet and with black Roman numerals. The Louis-XV hands are made of black metal and their fine design makes a perfect match with the clocks stately feel. The dial is decorated with two brass concentric rings: one of them frames the dial itself and the other separates the numerals from the center. At the top, the clock mounts a transparent glass door through which we can see the fine pendulum bob, made of brass and with a white-enameled center matching the dial. The wooden box is decorated with hand-carved symmetrical volutes and moldings, together with turned pieces. The ormolu details are also symmetrically disposed. At the top of the clock we can see a beautiful lions head crowning the piece. The faux-ebony finish that embellishes the wood is slightly worn at the corners and the moldings, creating a lovely and original effect. The clocks movement bears an engraved mark with a squirrel between the initials H and B. This antique ebony-finished wooden Wall clock is bound to shine in the most aristocratic and stately home.
