Great standing crucifix made of golden metal in the 19th century. This fine religious antique comes from France and was engraved boasting a stylish and smart design. The crucifix is in very well preserved and has survived to our days in great condition. These pieces are designed to decorate churches and altars and are also great to embellish a stylish home or room. The crucifix is 54 centimeter high. The cross stands on a beautiful rectangular base supported by four small legs. It has Renaissance-style moldings and at the front we can see a medal with an engraving depicting the Lamb of God. Over the base there is a cup-shaped piece with engraved vegetal motives that supports the cross itself. The crosss ends are trimmed with nice lire-shaped details, elegant and symmetrical. Overall the piece is balanced and airy, and its decoration creates a singularly stylish article.At the top of the cross there is a nicely engraved metal figure of crucified Christ. The sculpture is simple but its proportions are neatly balance: the figure was performed with high attention to detail. The top of the Redeemer is surrounded by a series of metal rays that come out in the shape of a fan, creating a fringe that seems to be emanating light. At the top of the stipes (the crosss vertical piece) we can see the classic INRI inscription engraved on a small parchment-shaped plate.This smart and appealing crucifix is a great piece of sacred art that will stand out in any corner because of its striking design.Measurements: Width: 24 cm/8.6 in.
