Fine set of chalice and paten made of partially gold-plated solid silver. These pieces come from France and were made in 1900. They come in their original case, thanks to which they have survived to our days in such great condition. The chalice and the paten are made of high quality silver and have hallmarks that certify their origin in the cup and in the base. The chalice is really beautiful and boasts a simple and elegant decoration with vegetal motives and Greek crosses. The cup is gold-plated inside and outside. The chalices cup sits on a base which emerges from the stem; this base is made up of several stylized and simple leaves which look like a flowers calyx, supporting the cup as if it was the corolla. Under the cup we can see a big node with a symmetrical floral decoration, beautifully performed. Under this node there is a smaller one which crowns the chalices wide base; this secondary node has a vegetal-inspired decoration similar to that that supports the cup. Finally, the lobed base is beautifully engraved with vegetal designs. The paten is decorated with a big Greek cross framed by a circular slim fringe. Both the chalice and the paten have hallmarks that tell us about their origin and the quality of the silver they are made of. The two pieces come in their original case, a box covered by a dark red material simulating leather outside and with a red felt lining inside. The case is slightly worn but is has fully achieved its goal, as the chalice and the paten have survived to our days in great condition. This set of chalice and paten is a real wonder, aimed to become part of the best collection of sacred art.Chalice measurements: Width: 135 mm.
