Precious silver chalice made in France at the end of the 19th century. The silver is lightly gilded, if faded with age. The goblet has corresponding maker's contrasts and .950 sterling silver on both the goblet and base and is beautifully decorated and embossed to throughout its length. 22 cms in height and weighs 363 grams.On the base it features the dedication: "Donne par l'Abbé J.B. Pothin curé de Licheres Aigremont 1851-1881". Made for Abbé J.B. Pothin, priest of Licheres Aigremont 1851-1881. It is undoubtedly a gift from his parishioners. Rarely do you find dedicated pieces that can be traced back to their former owner. Beautiful!
