This gorgeous set composed of a chalice and a paten, both made of sterling silver, comes from France and is more than one hundred years old. The two pieces come in an antique case, in very good condition and perfect to keep them safe and sound and carry them comfortably, although it's not the original case and it's 1 cm longer than the chalice. Both the chalice and the paten are very well preserved and are decorated with embossed motives and inscription that enhance their beauty. The silver bears different hallmarks that guarantee its quality, indicate the country of manufacture and reproduce the silversmiths mark. The chalice, a wonderfully designed piece, is made of gold-plated silver and adorned with elegant embossed motives. At the base we can see three delicate circular images of three saints also made of solid silver. Together with these portraits, at the base we can also see a small Greek cross decorated with deep blue enamel. Under the base we can see an inscription from 1898 that tells us that the chalice was a donation made by Henri Soyriss family. The stem has a big node and a smaller one just below the first; the big one is decorated with schematic floral-inspired engravings. The cup bears the same decoration at the base and some horizontal parallel lines too. As for the paten, it bears an engraving depicting the Lamb of God surrounded by a Latin inscription: PANIS VIVUS AGNUS DEI. This striking chalice and paten set is a beautiful antique that deserves to be part of a great collection or a museum of sacred art. Measurements: Chalice: Width: 5.7 in/14.5 cm. Height: 8.8 in/22.5 cm. Weight: 244 g. Paten: Diameter: 5.5 in/14 cm. Weight: 69 g.
