This rare article is a crucifix-shaped reliquary pendant, made of bronze and dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This object is designed to wear it hanging from the neck. The crucifix is composed of two parts that make up a small box with a gap inside. The gap contains a series of relics in good condition and properly labeled. The reliquary is a very curious and special item with an uncommon design, perfect to become part of a good collection of religious or rare antiques. The front side of the crucifix shows the embossed figure of the Crucified Christ with another figure below that seems to depict Virgin Mary in a grieving attitude. At the top we can see the classic inscription INRI. The rear side bears a series of embossed symbols: the Sacred Heart with a crown of thorns, a hammer and a nail (symbolizing the Crucifixion), whips and lashes, a ladder At the bottom end of the reliquary there is a bronze button: when pressed, the cross opens and lets us see the inner content. The two parts of the crucifix are connected by a hinge located at the top of the piece. Inside, this article is even more fascinating than outside. Over a dark red velvet background we can see a series of small bundles containing (allegedly) relics of different saints. The names of the saints are indicated in the corresponding printed labels: Eusebio, Sebastian, Clara All around the bundles there are golden cords and sequins that make up a luxurious decoration. All the content is in amazing condition and this fact turns the piece into a very singular antique. For its rareness and ancient age, this reliquary crucifix will fascinate any collector of singular and authentic pieces. Measurements: Width: 1.5 in / 4 cm. Height: 3.5 in / 9 cm.
