Fantastic Antique Solid Silver Chalice and Paten Set. France, XIX Century

Lovely sterling silver chalice accompanied by a paten, both made in France in the 19th century and in very good condition. The set comes in an antique set made in the early 20th century, also well preserved and boasting an original design. The silver pieces look sober and elegant and make up a decorative set with a remarkable personality. Both the chalice and the paten stand out for their simplicity this feature turns them into stylish and elegant articles. Although it doesn't bears hallmarks, all the parts that make up the chalice are made of sterling silver. Outside, the silver is not gilded; but the cup is gold-plated inside. The gold-plated finish is in excellent condition, looking bright and even. As the only decoration the chalice shows off a series of lathed and molded parts that provide it with balance and aesthetical interest. The base is circular in shape and looks stable, while the stem boasts a series of moldings of different sizes. The cup is flat and even and sits into a cylindrical base decorated with three simple parallel lines. The paten is equally simple. The only decoration it boasts is a small engraved central cross, with short arms and a curious design. This piece bears two hallmarks near the edge: the silversmiths mark and the one that identifies French silver. As stated before, the chalice and the paten come into an antique case with a solid base and a top handle. It is outside covered by black faux leather and inside it has a blue velvet and white satin lining. It is in good condition and is perfect to store, protect and carry this gorgeous ecclesiastic silver set.
