Antique Brass Eucharistic Vases, XIX Century

Fine antique cruets made of golden brass and hand-engraved glass, coming from France and dated in the 19th century. The cruets have survived to our days in amazing condition and boast a great beauty. The set is composed of three delicate pieces; the mix of material, textures and colors create a wonderful effect. The cruets stand on a golden brass tray, engraved by hand and decorated with four colorful enamels in great condition. Though being such an antique piece, this set is very well preserved and stands out for its delicate and timeless beauty. The cruets bear brass circular feet, sturdy and discreet. The glass recipients stand on them; they are quite stylized and bear brass filigree details as decoration. The striking handles are also made of brass; they are shaped as branches with leaves. The lovely brass lids are connected to the handles by hinges. The glass is engraved by hand with symbols of the Eucharistic liturgy: wheat stalks and grape bunches which symbolize the Bread and the Wine that take part in this Christian rite. The glass parts are in perfect condition, with no cracks or dents at all. The tray where the cruets stand on boasts a medieval-style design. The edge is decorated with a fine fringe composed of leaves and flowers, and the corners bear small circular enamels. There are four enamels depicting the icons of the Four Evangelists: Saint Matthew (an angel), Saint Mark (a lion), Saint Luke (an ox) and Saint John (an eagle). They are complete and preserve their lovely bright colors standing out over the golden background. In the center of the tray we can see a Greek cross with lobed ends engraved in the metal.
