Stylized antique small-sized silver ciborium made in France in the 19th century and in very food condition. It is a delicate piece probably coming from a private chapel, something we can tell from its small size. The ciborium is fully made of solid silver and bears hallmarks in all its parts guaranteeing the pieces quality and origin. It is made of lean silver though the cup is gold-plated inside. This feature is usual in this type of pieces, as the Body of Christ (the consecrated Host) can only be in touch with gold. The ciborium is completely decorated with hand-engraved motives, beautifully performed; among them we can see the classic symbols of Jewish-Christian tradition (reeds, wheat stalks, bunches of grapes, the Eye of Providence and the Tables of the Law). These symbols are accompanied and enhanced by ornamental details such as fringes, leaves and flowers). For its delicate design and gorgeous decoration, this antique silver ciborium will shine for its decorative potential and old age. Measurements: Bases Width: 3.15 in / 8 cm. Height: 7 in / 18 cm. Top Width: 2.95 in / 7.5 cm. Weight: 225 g.
