Lovely ecclesiastic solid-silver ciborium with hand-engraved decoration and gold-plated motifs. This piece comes from France and was made circa 1900, having survived to our days in amazing condition. The ciborium bears hallmarks in different parts that testify for the silvers quality and origin we can see the silversmiths mark and the French silver mark with the profile of Minerva goddess. The decoration of the piece is delicate and elegant, composed of thin symmetric vegetal-inspired filigrees that cover all the ciboriums surface, from the base to the lid. The motifs are composed of interlaced curved lines that create fine decorative shapes. The lines and the shapes bear a gold-plated finish that matches the inside of the cup. The ciborium has a conic-shaped foot that narrows upwards; in the middle it has a circular node. The lid mounts the classic cross that crowns the piece and acts as a handle, embellished with patterns in relief. It simple design and delicate decoration turn this antique silver ciborium into a highly interesting item for any collector of religious art. Measurements: Bases Width: 4.33 in / 11 cm.
