Striking antique solid-silver censer made in Granada, Spain in the 18th century (circa 1780). This beautiful and delicate piece bears a hallmark at the base and the cover which locates its origin in Granada: a mark with a pomegranate and the initials FY. We can also see the silversmiths mark and a zigzag mark, typical of antique silver Spanish pieces. At the base we discover some small holes and old-time reparations which in no way interfere with the beauty and the quality of the censer. The piece is composed of silver hand-engraved motifs which make up an openwork design; the gaps are intended to let the perfumed smoke out. It mounts for silver chains connected to a top piece which can be hung or hold, so the censer can oscillate and disseminate the aroma. Fine-looking and original, this antique solid-silver censer from Granada is an exclusive piece, full of interest for any collector and lover of silver metalwork. Dimensions: Width: 4.72 in / 12 cm. Height: 7.48 in / 19 cm. Weight: 640 g.
