Antique neogothic gilded silver chalice made in France in the 19th century and with paten. Both pieces are made of solid silver and bear hallmarks that testify for their ancient age and authentic quality. They are decorated by hand with engraved and embossed motifs; the silver preserves its beautiful original gilded finish, warm and uniform. The chalice has an ample hexagonal foot with circular shapes at the corners, a medieval-inspired design that provides the piece with a powerful personality. The foot is adorned with nerves, four-petal symmetrical flowers and embossed crosses, all of them Gothic in style. The shiny motifs stand out on a matt background. The stem and the cup show off the same decoration; the stem has a main node, solid and geometrical in shape, and a smaller one on top. The cup is lean and stylized, fitted into a gothic-style openwork sub-cup composed of intertwined pointed arches. The arches look slim and elegant and make up a beautiful tracery which enhances the beauty of the item. The paten that comes with the chalice is also a fine antique silver piece. It has a beautiful hand-engraved decoration with the acronym of Jesus Christ (IHS) inside a circle. The circle is adorned with classic medieval-inspired motifs: fleur-de-lis and shamrocks. At the patens edge, as well as the chalices foot and cup, we can see the hallmark born by antique quality French silver pieces. This antique neo gothic gilded silver chalice and paten set will boast their great personality and character during the celebration of Eucharist. Dimensions: Chalice: Foots Width: 6.81 in / 17.3 cm.
